Rock climbing in 2020 Olympics

Good news for all of the “rock jocks” out there – the International Olympic Committee (IOC) now recognizes the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC).

Okay, so the news in itself isn’t that great but it does have some pretty large implications.

In doing so, the first step has been taken by the IOC to make rock climbing a recognized Olympic sport.

Who smells a Michael Phelps/Chris Sharma domination in 2012?

Well not so fast.  The sporting schedules for 2012 and 2016 are already locked up so the soonest we might be seeing the Olympic rock rings is 2020.  But hey, I’ll take it.

2020 is a long way down the road but I can’t wait to see how much the sport will change by then.

Until then… let your imagination run wild…

Too bad he isn't already climbing for the gold.
