Donate Gear to Haiti!

With Haiti still reeling, it is hard to fathom the challenges that they are now facing.  The earthquake is undoubtedly the largest humanitarian crisis since the 2004 Tsunami and it is, once again, our responsibility to help those in desperate need.

Adventures Edge is accepting donations of usable tarps, tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats or other outdoor gear that could help the Haitian people recover from the disaster they are now coping with.

For more information contact the store at (304) 296-9007 or send an email to info@theadventuresedge.com.  I can also help you out if you send me an e-mail or leave a comment.

There have already been many donations and we hope to see more on their way.

With your help, this can become an even bigger project. If you don’t have anything to donate, please spread the news and let others know about this opportunity!

We are pushing for tarps if people don’t have a anything in their slightly used gear closet. Tarps can make a great shelter and they are much lighter to ship than tents. We are still collecting tents, bags, mats and lights too.

How is your tent drive going? A group of us out here on the west coast are thinking of doing the same thing. Do you have a contact person in Haiti? How do you ship the tents? How are you advertising? Etc, etc? Thanks, Nick

Nick l- The tent drive is going well. We don’t have a direct contact person in Haiti. We have used a variety of organizations to ship the tents…the American Red Cross and the National Guard just to name a couple. We get the tents to them and they ship them with their other shipments. We have advertised through facebook, twitter, blogs, local newspapers and word of mouth. Every little bit helps.
